Confidence That Kills, Great Rituals, and the Man at the Carwash

Welcome to Friday's Newsletter!

(Whether it’s an attempt to make someone’s day better or worse, don’t forget to share this newsletter!) 😝

things i’m thinking about this week

  • i — change your mindset, change your life.

    • My local carwash attendant is old-ish, has a painful limp, and his belt is worn nearly through from years of use, but he always greets me with a smile on his face. Circumstances are circumstances…you get to choose your mindset.

  • ii — unearned confidence is deadly.

    • Navigate life with a balance of humility + confidence. Arrogance is gross, whiny-ness is too. Find the areas you have earned confidence in, grow in areas you want to be better in, and embrace not knowing everything else…Contrary to popular opinion, it’s okay to admit you don’t know everything.

  • iii — great leaders have great rituals.

    • The phrase, “I knew that,” will kill your potential. Most people behave as though their lack of knowledge is what’s holding them back, it’s not. Execution is the difference-maker. Wanna change your life? Transform your “I knew’s…” into “I’m doing…”

quotes from others

You don’t rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.

James Clear

Your beliefs become your thoughts, your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions become your habits, your habits become your values, your values become your destiny.

Gandhi

one question to keep you curious

Does your unspoken, negative self-talk impact you even if you never verbalize it?
